Cleaning & Church Maintenance
The purpose of the Calvary Chapel Grants Pass cleaning ministry is to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of all indoor areas (chapel/bookstore, classrooms, foyer, halls, cafe and restrooms) of the church. By keeping a well maintained and clean worship environment, CCGP avoids the cost of hiring a cleaning service.
The goal of this ministry is to maintain the indoor areas of the church through a sizable number of volunteers, spreading the duties among many groups each week, resulting in an individual commitment of 3-4 hours every 3 months. Anyone can serve with this ministry --even children (with adult supervision) are welcome. Many families do this together. The cleaning coordinator is under the authority of the deacon / deaconess’.
Cleaning normally takes place between Tuesday and Saturday, depending on the volunteer’s schedule. The cleaning coordinator sends out a quarterly schedule prior to the start of each quarter. Volunteers are free to switch weekends with other volunteers in the event of a scheduling conflict.
The church is divided into three areas (chapel/bookstore, gate and classrooms) in order to distribute the workload evenly. Specifically, we handle the vacuuming, dusting, mopping, window washing, trash removal and other general cleaning. Classroom cleaning involves sweeping the hall and classrooms, emptying of wastebaskets, cleaning desktops, straightening of chairs, general cleaning of two bathrooms, filling paper dispensers.
The workload is much lighter with many hands. We have many devoted volunteers who are involved in this ministry, but can always use more. With more volunteers joining we are able to increase the time between scheduled cleaning dates. Again, the goal is to distribute this commitment into, 2 times per quarter (4 hours every 3 months).
This ministry offers a “behind the scenes” way of serving. It also allows for families with younger (or any) children a way to serve together, people who travel during the week, people who may only have a couple of hours at night, etc. to serve.
